HAYWARD, Calif. – The 2025 fall season came to a close for women's golf at the East Bay Fall Invite hosted by Cal State East Bay at the Stonebrae Country Club. The Lions competed in a stacked field featuring six nationally ranked programs, with VU placing 15th but concluded the event with their best round (343-340-338). #21 Cal State San Marcos earned a convincing win over runners-up #34 Simon Fraser. The Cougars clinched their third tournament title of the fall, finishing with a team score of 896 (299-392-295). The hosting Pioneers produced the individual winner Carlota Eroles (213).
The Course: Designed by David McLay Kidd, the Stonebrae Country Club Golf Course is a par-72 course, measuring 7,188 yards, and has been in operation since 2007. The course features a Scottish links-style layout with significant elevation changes, panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay, and natural hazards like ravines and barrancas. It is known for its challenging layout, with many uphill and downhill holes, and is a must-visit for experienced golfers.
What Happened? Leading the Lions was
Theresa Shaw, whose rounds of 79-77-81 set her in a tie for 34th (237). Shaw offered her best showing in round two but used four birdies on the closing round to leapfrog a few spots up the rankings. Shaw led the team on par-fours (4.50, +12), par-fives (4.93, 1), and was 16th at the invite with eight birdies.
VU's next top finisher was
Brooke Carpenter (89-85-79), who was 62nd among the pack. Her two birdies came on back-to-back holes in round two, and she used 13 of her team-high 25 pars on the last day to steer herself forward.
Kaitlin Anderson was seven spots behind Carpenter to position herself in a tie for 69th. Her strongest round was her first (84-87-90), where she dished out two of her four birdies at the event. She also collected 17 pars at the invite and split her remaining two birdies in the final two rounds.
Rounding out the Blue and Gold golfers was
Shanaya Neru and
Arabella Mishek. Neru was joint 74th, tallying a net score of 278 (91-99-88). The junior was third on the team in pars with 18 and netted one birdie in round two. Mishek played two rounds (189) with eight pars before having to withdraw.
