AZUSA, Calif. – The Vanguard men's track and field team posted three season-best performances at the Franson Last Chance meet on Saturday.
Freshman Jonathan Krynicki ran a personal-best 48.78 in the 400 meter dash, finishing 18th in the field of 45. He outdid his previous best of 48.99 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on April 6.
In the 3000 meter steeplechase, junior Evan Hernandez finished just under seven seconds off an NAIA "B" standard time. He traversed the course in a season-best 9:36.40, trimming 21 seconds off his previous top mark of 9:57.56.
Hernandez, who finished 18th in the race, accomplished his career-best 9:29.28 in the steeplechase at the 2022 Golden State Athletic Conference Championships as a freshman.
The Blue and Gold competed in a third race – the 4x400 relay – represented by Isaiah Feaver, Blake Rodriguez, Cohen Swift and Krynicki. The quartet clocked a season-best 3:21.20 to finish sixth overall.
What's Next?: The Lions turn their attention to the 2024 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Senior Chris Watson will represent VU in the 110 meter hurdles, as he has an "A" qualifying time of 14.56 seconds.
