ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Golden State Athletic Conference honored over 50 different men's and women's basketball student-athletes for their outstanding achievement in the classroom, and Vanguard had 11 representatives on the Scholar-Athlete Team.
To qualify for the award, an athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and obtain at least a 3.50 GPA or greater.
The men's honorees included Nico Dasca, Ethan Hanning, Jadyn Johnson, Preston Sims, Micah Swartz and Phillip Willis.Â
Dasca received his fourth career GSAC Scholar-Athlete award, while Johnson earned his third. Swartz and Willis made the team for the second time.Â
For the women, Melissa Akullu, Faith Boss, Airiana Madanski, Sarah Matossian and Brittney Tran garnered GSAC Scholar-Athlete accolades.
Akullu and Madanski claimed the award for the third time in their careers, while Boss collected her second. Matossian and Tran were first-time honorees.
The Lions led all GSAC schools with the six men's honorees.
