SAN DIMAS, Calif. – Vanguard won four of its five matches to knock off Life Pacific in a Golden State Athletic Conference beach volleyball match on Wednesday.
The 4-1 victory over the Warriors pulled the Lions even at 4-4 for the season.
Reece Fisher and Ana Broadhead started VU out at the fives as they battled back from a first set deficit, earning a 14-21, 21-18, 15-13 victory over Peyton Ertle and Maxine Tennant.
The fours finished next with VU's Bailey Coffin and Kortney Hitt getting a straight set 21-14, 21-18 victory over Lindsey Johnson and Melissa Polich. The match clincher took place at the twos, as Madi Nash and Madison Arnold cruised to a 21-13, 21-14 win over Audrianna Guzman and Jadyn Armstrong.
VU's only blemish occurred at the No. 3 spot on the ladder, and it was the closest match of the morning. Paige Cutwright and Gianna Pecile won the first set, 21-19. However, Life Pacific's Mackenzie Stewart and Kate Murray took the next two sets by scores of 21-19 and 15-12.
That left court No. 1 – and Hannah Wilmes and Emma Galloway finished off the Warriors with their 21-15, 21-13 triumph over Hannah Caddow and Iliana Galindo.
