SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Vanguard men's cross country team had consistent performances throughout the lineup at The Master's Invite on Saturday.
Senior Evan Hernandez led the Lions in 41st place with a time of 25:34.40 on the 8K layout at Central Park.
The next four Lions all finished within 20 seconds of each other. Cooper Anderson came in 110th place overall, second among Lions, as he posted a time of 26 minutes, 39.80 seconds. Sophomore Jesse O'Campo nipped right at Anderson's heels as clocked 26:39.90 for 11th place.
Ommar Arroyo wasn't far behind as the sophomore posted a 26:56.00 for 123rd place. Anthony Kennen crossed the line three seconds after Arroyo to finish 129th overall.
The sixth Lion to participate was freshman Caleb Dickerson, who ran the course in 27 minutes, 14.90 seconds (144th overall).
The Lions finished 16th among 26 teams with 445 points.
What Was Said?: "Our men ran solid today," said Head Coach Bryan Wilkins. "We continue to see a very tight pack of roughly 1:30 from 1 through 5. There's still a lot more to come from this group and we're expecting some great things in our final two meets of the season."
What's Next?: The Blue and Gold are next in action on Saturday, October 12 in the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. The meet will begin at 8:45 a.m. in Sunnyvale's Badlands Regional Park.
