HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – No. 2 Vanguard remained undefeated at 7-0 with a dominating sweep of Life Pacific in a Golden State Athletic Conference beach volleyball match on Wednesday morning.
The Lions won all five matches in straight sets, marking their third straight win by sweep. VU also won its 29th consecutive regular season match against a GSAC opponent, a streak that goes back to 2020.
What Happened?
The Lions posted a 1-0 lead as the four pairs of Madison Arnold (SO/Chatsworth, CA) and Bailey Coffin (JR/Tustin, CA) won by identical 21-12, 21-12 scores over Daniela H'Orvath and Kei'ana Pascua. It was the third straight win for the Arnold and Coffin duo.
Emma Galloway (SO/Del Mar, CA) and Hannah Wilmes (FR/Thornton, CO) won their third straight match at the No. 2 spot, defeating Mackenzie Stewart and Hannah Caddow by a 21-17, 21-10 score.
The match-clinching win took place at the fives. Chloe Knudson (SO/Coeur D' Alene, ID) and Jacqueline Majors (SO/Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) rolled to a 21-4, 21-4 victory over Hailee Heim and Stephanie Mosley, notching their fifth straight victory in the lineup.
VU continued its winning ways against the Warriors at the No. 3 and No. 1 positions. Emilee Hall (SR/Redondo Beach, CA) and Madi Nash (SR/Tucson, AZ) earned their sixth straight win at the threes, taking down Life Pacific's Kate Murray and Emma McMillan, 21-9, 21-15.
Conley Harris (SR/Brea, CA) and Morgan Nash (SR/Tucson, AZ) sealed the victory with a 21-14, 21-6 triumph at No. 1 against Lindsey Johnson and Mackenzie Grooms. The top pair for the Lions is undefeated at 7-0, with six wins coming in straight sets.
