Beach Volleyball Remains Undefeated in GSAC

SAN DIMAS, Calif. – The No. 2-ranked Vanguard beach volleyball team rolled to a 5-0 road victory over Life Pacific on Thursday to stay unbeaten on the season.

The Lions improved to 9-0 overall and 8-0 in the Golden State Athletic Conference. The Warriors fell to 0-10 and 0-9 in conference play.

Vanguard won all of its matches in straight sets. The Lions also won their 30th straight GSAC regular season match, a streak dating back to 2020.

What Happened?: The Lions turned to their No. 5 pair to earn an early 1-0 lead, as Ana Broadhead (FR/Nashville, TN) joined Jacqueline Majors (SO/Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) for a 21-16, 21-19 victory over Hailee Heim and Bailey Collette.

Madi Nash (SR/Tucson, AZ) and Hailey Petersen (SR/Omaha, NE) earned the next win at the threes, notching a 21-8, 21-13 victory over Kate Murray and Emma McMillan.

The match-clinching win occurred at the fours, where Bailey Coffin (JR/Tustin, CA) and Madison Arnold (SO/Chatsworth, CA) blew out Kei'ana Pascua and Daniela H'Orvath in the first set before outlasting them in the second, winning 21-7, 24-22.

The VU No. 2 pair of Emma Galloway (SO/Del Mar, CA) and Hannah Wilmes (FR/Thornton, CO) won their fifth straight match, battling hard for the 23-21, 21-16 triumph over Mackenzie Stewart and Hannah Caddow.

With a 4-0 lead, the ones sealed the sweep. Conley Harris (SR/Brea, CA) and Morgan Nash (SR/Tucson, AZ) cruised to the 21-14, 21-12 victory over Lindsey Johnson and Mackenzie Grooms. Harris and Nash remained undefeated on the year at 9-0.

Why Is It Important?: The Lions played with new pairs at the threes and fives and did not break stride in remaining undefeated.

What Was Said?: "As anyone who plays an outdoor sport can tell you, one of the challenges is adapting to a new environment with unique sun/wind/sand conditions," said Head Coach Kris Dorn. "The ladies played well and we're starting to play with risk."

What's Next?: The Lions play twice at the Irvine Great Park on Friday, taking on Cal State Los Angeles at noon and CUI at 2:00 p.m.
