SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Vanguard Beach Volleyball (4-0) continues GSAC play to start the season by playing host The Master's University, as well as Hope International University. The Lions rolled to 4-1 and 5-0 victories as not all five pairs hit the sand in the pair of games.
What Happened? In Game One against the Mustangs, Vanguard found themselves leading 1-0 after Court Four saw Allyson Scharrer (FR/Newport Beach, CA) and Vashti Elias Romero (SO/Redlands, CA) win 21-13,21-9. They moved to 2-0 after Kayla Tinker (SR/San Clemente, CA) and Carly McKinney (SR/Mission Viejo, CA) won in matching 21-16 scores. TMU got on the board with a 21-17,21-9 victory on Court Three. Finally, top pair Conley Harris (JR/Brea, CA) and Natalie Escher (JR/Redlands, CA) scored a 24-22,21-16 win. Game Two was a walkover for the Lions as well as only three flights were completed, all of which went the director of Vanguard. Tinker and McKinney were the first to go final with 21-12,21-8 scores. Harris and Escher won in 21-10,21-13 counts, and things ended with a Hall/Irwin victory by 21-10,21-16 tallies.
Why It's Important? The Blue and Gold moves to 4-1 all-time against the Royals and is a perfect 2-0 against the Mustangs. Vanguard holds a record of 10-4 against GSAC foes over the last four seasons. The Pride is riding a seven-game win streak dating back to last season, and they have not lost since March 6, 2020.
Top Performers: For her career, Hall is now 7-7 all-time while her partner Irwin boasts the same marks. Tinker holds a 13-23 record as the most experience Lion in program history. Harris is 9-6 in a Vanguard uniform.
