Morales Inks Commitment with Vanguard Lions

COSTA MESA, Calif. - Jessina Morales out of Heritage High School has finalized her decision to join the Cross Country and Track & Field programs at Vanguard next Fall. Hailing from Mennifee, California she owns personal bests of 18:02 in the 3-mile for cross country. On the track she completed the 800m in 2:27, the 1600m in 5:18, and the 3200m in 12:32.

"I chose Vanguard University because, with a  legacy of many family members that have attended or have worked for VU, I consider it home," remarked Morales. "Vanguard provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and other students to be a part of a community that shares the same passion for building and strengthening a relationship with Christ."

Stemming from the legacy of her grandparents, Virgil and Donna Ziegler, Jessina will be the five member of the family to compete for the Blue and Gold. Her sisters Davina and Jessica were members of the since discontinued Swimming program, while her cousins Virgil and Belle were foundation members for the golf team. Virgil Ziegler was inducted into the Vanguard Athletics Hall of Fame in 2007 for his Meritorious Service to the department.

Morales went on to say, "What excites me most about the Vanguard Cross Country/Track and Field program is having coaches and teammates to grow with, not only in our faith but in our sport as well. I am very excited to become a Lion!"
