COSTA MESA, Calif. - The Lions (7-3, 4-2) concluded their road trip with a 9-5 loss against the University of Redlands (2-0). Leftfielder Brandon Sandoval (SO/Fallbrook, CA) led the Lions by going 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Paul Keating (JR/Oceanside, CA) chimed in with one run, two hits, and two RBI.
Michael Jordan (JR/Murrieta, CA) was given the start for The Pride, only to last one inning. Jordan allowed five runs in the first inning, including a series of doubles and a two-run home run. The early Bulldog runs proved enough to hand Jordan the loss and give Redlands the victory.
Sandoval began the third inning with a double and later scored on a Paul Keating triple. Keating scored on an RBI groundout to bring the score to 5-2, Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs would then score two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and one in the seventh to increase their lead. Despite Vanguard's three run inning in the ninth, the University of Redlands the Lions their third loss of the season, by a score of 9-5.
Up next for the Lions is a three-game series at home against Arizona Christian University. The first game will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6.
