COSTA MESA, Calif. – Senior Jack Daru (Bradenton, Fla.) played an excellent game on Tuesday afternoon against Bethesda, going 3-for-3 at the plate to register half of Vanguard's hits in the Lions' 8-2 loss.
Another pair of seniors, Ian Sakry (Long Beach, Calif.) and Nick Rodda (Santa Rosa, Calif.), tallied a hit apiece on the day, while junior Michael Flores (Dinuba, Calif.) registered The Pride's remaining knock.
Vanguard's runs came in the second and the ninth where Flores and Sakry accumulated the respective RBIs.
Junior Justin Davis (Los Angeles, Calif.) came up with his fifth stolen base of the season in the second, where he scored a run for the Blue and Gold. Sakry also notched a successful heist in the frame.
Seven different VU pitchers appeared on the mound in the game. Freshman Roberto Johnson (San Marcos, Calif.) took the loss and drops to 0-1 on the year.
A trip to The Master's College is next for the Lions. Game one of the three-contest Golden State Athletic Conference series is scheduled for Friday at 2:00 pm.
