EL CAJON, Calif. – Vanguard baseball matched San Diego Christian's hit total in Monday's make-up Golden State Athletic Conference game but could not equal the Hawk's run tally and fell 6-3 on the SDCC Field.
The Lions sit at 8-8 overall and 3-8 in league play, while the Hawks improve to 13-6 on the season and 6-6 in conference.
Senior Jason Ochart (Glendale, Calif.), senior Ellis Whitman (Seattle, Wash.) and junior Ian Sakry (Long Beach, Calif.) combined for six of the Pride's nine hits, going two-for-five, two-for-four and two-for-three, respectively, in the loss. Ochart and Whitman each registered doubles for Vanguard.
Junior Francisco Torres (Cathedral City, Calif.), fourth-year Bryce Arroyo (Brea, Calif.) and junior John Schwer (Burbank, Calif.) tallied the Blue and Gold's remaining knocks.
