Jane Teixeira joined Vanguard at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year as the new Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance. She was then promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Compliance/Senior Woman Administrator role in the summer of 2022.
Teixeira will lead the department's compliance program, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all compliance information per national, conference, and institutional rules. She will also work with the 18 intercollegiate teams that VU has and will coordinate closely with the Financial Aid and Admissions offices.
Teixeira returns to Southern California from Humboldt State University (DII), where she served as the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreational Sports. While guiding the Jacks, she successfully led the 11 DII intercollegiate programs and the 18 recreational sports clubs through COVID-19. She also set up the vision of the department, oversaw the management of events and programming at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, and cultivated new donor and sponsorship support for the department.
She brings 20-plus years of experience in collegiate athletics to Vanguard, as her career has blossomed since playing collegiate softball and graduating from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning & Development. Teixeira then collected a Masters in Education before receiving her Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma in 2005.
Teixeira's first posting was at Texas A&M International University (DII), where she served as the Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator. She then was scooped up by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as an Assistant Director for Membership Services and Student-Athlete Reinstatement. There, Teixeira helped to implement reinstatement procedures at all levels, along with working with the NCAA YES Clinic at the NCAA Division I Final Four to connect the final teams with over 100 area youth.
She moved to California in 2009 to serve as the Director of NCAA Compliance for the University of Southern California. In addition to compliance, Teixeira was also heavily involved in NFL Pro days and the Professional Athlete Agent Program. After USC, Teixeira spent almost nine years in Assistant and Associate Commissioner roles at the PacWest Athletic Conference, while also being the Senior Woman Administrator. While working at the PacWest, Teixeira streamlined the compliance program, managed the conference budget, and oversaw and increased attendance at conference tournaments. She also instituted leadership and life skills events and professional development for both Senior Woman Administrators and student-athletes across the conference.
