Joakim Ulfvebrand

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Joakim returns to the men's and women's coaching staff for his second season. He brings wisdom from a player standpoint as well as USTA Junior Coaching experience, and private coaching at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center where he is presently a tennis pro.

As a four-year player, Ulfvebrand was a highly successful player for the Lions, always providing consistent performance throughout his career. The Stockholm native joined the Lions in 1998 and made the NAIA 2nd team All-American list as a freshman and equaled that feat as a senior. A three-time All-GSAC player, Joakim primarily played in the number two singles position for the Lions and is the only VU Tennis player to compete in four NAIA National Championships as a player. Joakim holds the VU Careers singles record of 96 wins and 26 losses. He also completed four seasons with the men's soccer team.

Ulfvebrand graduated from Vanguard in 2002 with his bachelor's degree in Communications and has been working for a Swedish Newspaper as a sports writer for the past two years.

"Vanguard University has been a stimulating environment for me", comments Ulfvebrand. "I have met lots of good people, had lots of fun, and received a great education. I will remember this time for the rest of my life, and am happy to be still apart of the VU Tennis teams!"
