Biography
The athlete: Maribel is a two-time All-GSAC performer and two-time national qualifier in the 800 M event…has only “Indoor Track” eligibility remaining for this season…will attempt to qualify for the NAIA Indoor Meet in the 600 and 800 M races…personal best in the 800 M is 2:16.5, and 4:50.6 in the 1,500 M…is coming off an MVP Cross Country season…has been an outstanding contributor to the program over the past four years…an exceptional role model, disciplined hard worker, and team captain.
The person: Maribel was born July 27, 1978 to Jose and Manuela Delgado…will be graduating in Spanish…nickname is Tink…sports hero is Michael Jordan…likes Mexican food and going to the movies with her boyfriend…would like to meet Kobe Bryant because he is a young professional…running has taught her to persevere…she has learned to take life one day at a time…wants to be a teacher and a good role model.
Her thoughts: I chose Vanguard University because it is a small campus with great people. I’ve enjoyed getting to know a lot of people during my years here.
