Kelly’s colligate career began at Mt. San Antonio College in 2014, during his time there he was able to earn a Junior College state title before his transfer to Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. While he only spent a short time there, he was awarded the status of an NAIA All- American. From there Kelly transferred again to Loras College of Dubuque, Iowa. In his first season with Loras he won his conference and was awarded outstanding wrestler of the Tournament. In his second season Kelly again qualified for the NCAA Division 3 National Tournament where he was part of a National runner up team. Throughout his career he has helped coach kids' programs and helped at his alma mater South Hills High School.
