Chris Taylor returns for his second season as an assistant coach for the Vanguard Lions. Taylor is USPTA certified and is a Varsity Tennis Coach at Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo. He has also gained coaching experience at various tennis clubs in Texas and Southern California. Taylor will be assisting Johansson and the Lions with both the men's and women's programs as he is building his coaching resume'.

Taylor, a native of Texas, came to Vanguard as a sophomore and played for VU's men's team for three seasons. He finished his playing career with the Lions in 2004 with a 5-0 singles record and 5-1 doubles record as a senior. He made two NAIA National Tournament appearances with the Lions and won a total of 24 singles matches and 18 doubles matches during his three seasons as a player.

Taylor graduated from VUSC with a Bachelors degree in Religion in 2004 and currently lives in Costa Mesa. Despite seeking a career in California, Taylor claims that his favorite place is his grandparents' farm in east Texas.

"VUSC has a strong Christian heritage and a nationally recognized tennis program that always competes for a national championship," says Taylor. "I have enormous respect for Coach Mattias and I like that VU athletics aims for success and significance."
