Biography
The athlete: Mikael came to VU last fall…begins his first season of track and field for the Lions…transferred to Vanguard from NCAA Division I Nicholls State University…was very successful in cross country and track and field in his two seasons at NSU…coming off an All-GSAC season of cross country this past fall…is set for a great debut in the middle distances for VU…has been running for eight years…set personal bests of 1:54 in the 800, 3:59 in the 1500, 8:56 in the 3,000, 15:24 in the 5,000, and 32:20 in the 10,000…should prove to be one of the best middle distance runners in the GSAC this spring…has the talent to qualify for Indoor or Outdoor nationals.
The person: Mikael was born on March 27, 1997 in Boden, Sweden to his parents Mats Larsson and Marianne Grising…has two step-siblings…is pursuing a degree in Business…goes by “Mike”…enjoys traveling, listening to music, and participating in sports…feels like pollution is the biggest problem in the world…has learned from life that if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself…competing in athletics has taught him good discipline and sportsmanship…wants to be faster.
His thoughts: Mikael chose Vanguard because is has a good running program and good education, as well as location.
