COSTA MESA -- In perhaps one of the fastest athletic events in Vanguard history (28 minutes), men's wrestling won three of the four bouts contested against Hope International. VU cleanly won the dual 53-6, as HIU was open at six weight classes.
Zachary Klarcyk routed Jacob Benavidez at 133 pounds 18-3, and
Vince Partington made a pin of Jacob Ramirez at 157 pounds. Ezekiel Hueter pinned
Keagen Kroeger at 174 pounds to give the Royals six points, but it was followed by the highlight of the night, as senior
Alan Carrillo made a pin of Alonzo Cardona in his first bout of the year, with his teammates mobbing him after he left the mat.
What's Next? Vanguard goes to Colorado School of Mines for the NCAA Regional Qualifier on February 28.
