SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Vanguard women's cross country shone at The Master's Invite Saturday morning, tying for fifth out of the field of 20 teams.
Ella Murray was the top placer for VU, finishing fifth in a time of 22:03.9. Suzie Johnson of TMU won the challenge but Loyola Marymount won the team trophy.
What Happened? Murray beat runners from LMU, UC San Diego, APU, and Hawaii, including an all-Pacific West Conference runner from APU, Sophia Godina. About 40 seconds after Murray ended her race,
Lauren Pahl crossed the line with a total time of 22:48.4, ending the event in 20th.
Zoe Tavares was next in 25th, netting a time of 23:12.5. After that came
Madyson Nakamura in 31st, who tallied a 23:18.50.
Isabella Sword completed the race in 23:52.3 in 54th and
Hailey Quiroz placed 63rd with a time of 24:06.3.
Giselle Rubio reached the finish line in a time of 24:07 in 65th,
Sydney Sydney was 87th with a 24:40.1, and
Kaitlyn Smith was not far behind in 89th with a 24:41.5.
Emily Noyes was in 96th and completed the race in a time of 24:47.6.
Macey Thomas ran a 25:17.3 in 110th,
Chase Sullivan tallied a 25:42.6 in 120th,
Haley Butenschoen was 126th with a time of 25:55.5, and
Brady Wylie was 136th with a 26:08.2.
Adrianna Huffstuttler ended in 156th with a 27:06.3,
Kaitlyn Barragan was right on her heels in 157th with a 27:06.6, and
ZoeTheodora Taylor made her first collegiate run in a time of 29:21.1 and placed 186th.
What was Said? "I'm super proud of our women's team. Their depth was on display today. We had some ladies who didn't have their best races and other teammates stepped up and helped carry us. We beat the teams we wanted to beat today and it was truly a team effort," said Head Coach
Bryan Wilkins.
