RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Jesse O'Campo finished ninth to lead the Vanguard men's cross country team today at the UCR Highlander Open Saturday morning. O'Campo had a time of 25:46.3 and netted his second top 10 of the year. The Lions placed sixth as a team, ahead of Occidental. The Beavers of Caltech won the team event, and Cal Schnepf of Mesa CC (Ariz.) won the individual medal.
What Happened? Caleb Dickerson crossed the line in 30th with a time of 26:24.5 and set a new season-best by over a minute.
Cooper Anderson was four spots back in 34th with a mark of 26:31.3, lowering his season-best time by roughly 10 seconds. In 42nd was
Ommar Arroyo, who finished with a time of 26:42.9, and
Rylan Starnes came home in 99th in a time of 28:36, lowering his best time of the year by seven seconds.
What was Said? "Our men raced with grit and determination today and put together the best race of the season by far," said Head Coach
Bryan Wilkins. "I'm very proud of their effort and their support of one another. Our team is coming on strong at the end of the season in all aspects. We are looking forward to conference next week!"
