NORWALK, Calif. -- Vanguard women's wrestling garnered its second dual victory in program history on Friday night, as the Lions overran the Cerritos College Falcons. The Lions won all but three weight classes and took the dual 41-17 to end the dual portion of the season at 2-4, while Cerritos falls to 0-1.
What Happened? Abbeygael Cabuag was in charge during the 101-pound bout, as she rolled Jessica Hong until she collected the pin 2:08 into the first period.
Angie Dill took on Lucy Guadarrama at 109 pounds and Dill would seize control to rack up some early points. While Guadarrama got one takedown, Dill did not give her anything else, taking a 12-2 technical fall victory.
Satira Sohal would take the first win for the Falcons on the night over
Jade Cabrera at 116 pounds, as she would win 14-1. But
Loretta Lopez got the Blue and Gold back in the win column, as she pinned Denise Figueroa at 2:11 in the first frame to snare six points at 123 pounds.
Lily Avalos also collected a pin, as she wrapped up Isabella Sanchez in 58 seconds in the 130-pound tussle.
River Todd collected the third VU pin in a row at 136 pounds, as she dispatched Guilianni Garcia in 2:17.
Jo Snider got six points for the Lions as the Falcons were open at 143 pounds and
Mariz Soliman faced Natalie Resendiz at 155 pounds after that. She pushed the Falcon around and made the pin at 2:37 in the first frame to put VU up 41-5.
Cerritos took the next two weight classes, as Vida Beckel pinned
Abena Adu at 170 pounds and Nile Jernigan grabbed six points as VU was open at 191 pounds.
