COSTA MESA -- This week is an annual reminder about thankfulness and Vanguard University and VU Athletics certainly have a lot to be thankful for. Beyond success in the classroom and on the field of play, the Lions would like to celebrate and say thank you to all the donors who participated in the 2023 Vanguard Giving Day. The impact of all the contributions will certainly be felt as the school year progresses, as Vanguard University can claim almost 1,500 total gifts for more than $419,000.
VU Athletics is grateful to all donors who supported the department or any of its teams, as 1,106 gifts, from just shy of 1,000 donors, totaling over $270,000 dollars were given across the department. This total exceeds the amount raised last year by almost $5,000 and the University saw an increase of nearly $31,000.
Two student-athletes were also recognized as the top student ambassadors for this year. Emma Galloway of Beach Volleyball helped to raise the most dollars and Isabella Long of Stunt recruited the largest number of donors.
"Lion fans, Thank You," stated Athletic Director Jeff Bussell. "We are incredibly grateful for the support of our alumni, fans, families, and friends as our teams strive to have an uncommon faith, commitment and attitude on and off the playing field this year. Thank you to each donor who took the time to make a gift and help enhance the experience of our student-athletes. We look forward to seeing you at a future game. Go Lions!"
